Members of DSC talent’s program fulfill academic excellence & outstanding athleticism


External & internal camps preparing for international tournaments






Members of Dubai Sports Council talent’s program proceed practicing in their internal and external camps as they prepare to participate in the next Arab and international tournaments under the supervision, monitoring and support of DSC in coordination with the sport federations involved in games practiced by the athletes.

DSC has already congratulated all the athletes, members of the first session of the program, for their success in the previous school year where they had achieved the best high degrees. Some of these degrees amounted to 85% in secondary school exams , the results achieved due to the daily follow-up of specialists in DSC and their visits to schools, meetings with teachers and work with them to provide courses appropriate for athletes allowing them to practice and participate in tournaments,  to catch-up lessons  through additional and strengthening lessons at school and home. School’s administrations were pleased by this program as they took part in achieving the hard equation considered by DSC as an essential foundation for the program’s success through a combination of academic excellence and sport excellence at the same time.

DSC also organized a workshop for athletes involved in talent’s program before heading to participate in summer training camps and external tournaments. The workshop included lectures in many important aspects. Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharif Secretary General of the Council inaugurated the workshop by a speech in which he stressed on the confidence of DSC and sport field in UAE in athletes, members of program, and the necessity of exerting maximum efforts in training and acquiring academic knowledge through the workshop to build the ideal sport personality which reflects the best image of the country. Dr. Al-Sharif emphasized the role of athlete’s school and family as well as the sport federation in building the sport hero who we aspire to build in this program.

 The workshop included lectures presented by professional lecturers on sport ethics and healthy sport nutrition in addition to sport excellence factor and athletes relationships with media. Parents and coaches of athletes participated also in the workshop as they are key players in the program launched by DSC which also includes school, club and the concerned federation.



Regarding the detailed preparations of the athletes , members of talent’s program, the swimmers Khalid Abdullah Al-Dabbos, Rashid Mohammed Saeed, Omar Al-Hamadi and Mubarek Salim Al Bashr ended their participations in the Asian youth games in Singapore where they achieved a good personal figures ahead of the World Cup Championship in Rome nowadays and the World Swimming Championship – Dubai 2010. They keep training in the local camp ahead of Arab Championship which will start in Jordan next August.

In tennis , Fatima Al-Janahi ( accompanied by her father ) participated in the Arab Championship in Tunisia running on 6-13 July. Then they headed to France to set up a camp from 15 to 30 July and to take part in the international championship there. Fatima will also participate in another championship in Malaysia held from 3 to 16 August. Meanwhile , the player Rashid Oubaid Boushakar joined an external camp in France during the period from 22 to 28 last June participating in international championship in Paris as well as taking part in the French tournament “ Le Pontier “ from 29 July to 5 August. His summer program consists of a participation in foreign tournaments in Jordan and Syria from 29 June to 27 July , willing to participate in the ITF international championship for juniors which will begin in August 6 in Syria , where it is hopeful to achieve a great results , followed by his participation in an international tournament in Iran from 17 to 22 August.

As for the athletics , specialist in shot put ( iron ball ) and discus , Ahmad Ali Hassan – who got 85% in high school – traveled to Bulgaria accompanied by his Bulgarian coach to join two months camp from 10 June to 10 August. His mate , Khalid Waleed Al-Shihi , specialist in 100 m race and long jump , has recently participated in the Asian Games held in Singapore and broke the country record in long jump by achieving 6.46 m . He is now in an external camp in Syria willing to participate in Arab Junior Tournament in Syria.

In Tae Kwon Do , Mohammed Jamal Mohammed Rashid Al-Boflasah traveled to South Korea after his excellent academic success ( 85% ) as well as his distinguished  sport achievements ( 5 titles ) accompanied by his coach Tarik Kaeid to participate in an external camp willing to take part in the next sport tournaments.

In table tennis, Mohammed Allinchawi joined a local camp in Dubai then another one in Ras al-Khaimah under the supervision of the national team’s Chinese coach. In cycles, Hasan Mohammed Al-Najjar has won the individual excellence championship in 2008 – 2009 season, collecting 82 points. He also won the third place with bronze medal in individual competitions in the GCC 11th championship held in Bahrain.
